Another World T20 has started in Sri Lanka. The memories of the last World T20 are very fresh in the minds of all Pakistani fans. They were all dancing out on the roads and in the alleys until the last over started. The euphoria of another World T20 final was oozing out from a nation deprived of all sorts of entertainment. All the celebrations proved to be a bit too premature as Hussey done a Maindad to Pakistan. Pakistan dominated the game for 39 overs but in a single over, it was all over for the fans who already assumed their team was in another World T20 final. Everything went in the wrong direction since that semi-final for Pakistan. A new test captain retired in the middle of a test series after playing just a single test in his return to test cricket.

Allan Border’s saying about Pakistani captains changing on every face of the moon proved right once more as new test captain found guilty in the spot fixing scandal. This time around, it was not only the captain walking out; he was accompanied by the best opening bowling pair of the world on their way to hall of shame. It was a mega loss for Pakistan cricket.

A young fast bowler of elitist pedigree and a craft-man of a medium pacer lost in mere blink of an eye through the ugliest head of cricket, the fixing. Naturally, it brought the nation down on to its knees. After losing a considerable amount of quality in their bowling, Pakistan did not forget the way of win cricket matches, in fact it made them more consistent and united. They fought valiantly in two ODI series against South Africa and England but lacked the finishing touch required. A drawn test series against South Africa was followed by thumping wins in both the ODI and the test series to get things back on track. Ever since, there was no looking back from the side which might have lacked quality but none of the fighting spirit. The Pakistanis ended up their World Cup campaign in the semi-final, had they took the catches of Sachin who knows, it might have been a different story.

The bowling attack continued to be among the very best even after losing the two fast bowling gems. Surely, Amir and Asif were the tormentors of batting orders; Pakistan found Ajmal and Rehman to do that job. The high point came in January-February 12′, when they white washed the No. 1 side in the world, England without minimum of fuss. It is staggering, how Pakistan cricket raised itself up the fixing fiasco. After that incident, they have the third best win-loss ratio following England and South Africa only in test cricket.

In this World T20, here comes their moment to crown the nation which did not lose an iota of its believe in the cricket and the team after one of the most humbling incidents in cricket history. It is not just about their fans, it is also about them to achieve that they have been denied in the last two tournament semi-final finishes.
